Mamavation Monday: Finishing What I Start

I'm pretty sure I have workout ADD. I tend to start things and not finish them. So I am going to focus my attention on finishing things I've started. I've started C25K and am finished through Week 5 Day 1. I've started the hundred push up challenge and am finished through Week 2 Day 1 and I've started Jillian Michael's 30 Day shred and have done 4 days of Week 1 (There are no set number of days to do for this one but when I started I planned on doing 6 days of each week, so I'm sticking with that!) I will post where I am at each week with these programs and I can't wait to tell you when I've finished each of them!

Also, one of my friends received a living social deal for a month of boot camp classes and asked if I would like to join her, I said yes. We start tomorrow and I am terrified. I have never done any sort of class, I am terribly uncoordinated and I tend to cry when people are mean to me or I get overwhelmed. I keep trying to stroke my own ego and tell myself, "I'm a bookieboo badass and I am probably stronger than most of the people taking the class." But, it's hard for me to actually believe myself. I have never been a strong person, but hey, I'm working on it!

I hope everyone has a great week, I am super excited to find out who the new mamavation mom's will be tonight!!

Mamavation Monday: So Long Sickies

Well, let's start off with some good news... I lost 8 lbs. last week. I would love to tell some great story about how I was eating and exercising like a champ and I could literally see fat melting off of my body. However, that would be a huge lie. I had the most horrendous flu ever. It lasted for 6 very long days and for 4 of those days my husband was on a business trip and I had to take care of my boys and my niece and had very little time to take care of myself. It was quite awful but I am feeling so much better, I just have some residual junk knocking around in my head.

So this week is a new week, my husband now has "the plague" since he is the third person to have gotten it we know how to tackle it a little bit better. I am excited to restart my training for the 5K at the end of May and I am determined to keep the weight off that I lost with the flu. However, I am not going out running today, it is raining and it seems a little bit silly to go out for a run in the rain after I am just starting to feel better. I might hit up the gym later and go on the elliptical for a bit.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Mamavation Monday: The Sickies

After close to a week of taking care of my sick boys and getting NO exercise I decided that I needed a change. On Wednesday I thought it was easy enough to take a few minutes out to do the 100 push up challenge and then I decided to continue with my C25K while my husband was on lunch (he works from home.) Then I followed along with the mamavation mom hazing. I continued like this on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday I woke up feeling very sore. I had planned on doing my C25K and going grocery shopping but I was so sore that I just went grocery shopping. When I returned from the store I could hardly walk up the stairs into my house and then it hit me. I wasn't sore, I was achy. I was getting the flu. So I did what any normal person would do, I pretended I wasn't getting sick. But, by the end of the night Saturday the sickness had taken over. I had a high fever, the chills, and a sore throat. My whole body felt so weak and I spent the entire day Sunday couch bound. I'm feeling a lot better today but I am definitely still sick. I'm really hoping tomorrow I will be back to 100%, this week is April vacation from school and my husband is leaving for a business trip tomorrow afternoon. It's going to be a long week but I will get through it!

Mamavation Monday: Killin' It!

This week has been great! On Monday I received a groupon in my e-mail for half off registration for a 5K. It looked like so much fun and I really wanted to do it! I ran my first 5K back in December and didn't do so great, I started the C25K program after that and then about 3 runs in I injured my knee. I had been hesitant to start running again and had been pretty much elliptical bound since then. On Monday night I went to the gym and did cardio on the elliptical for 20 minutes and had no pain in my knee so the next day I did C25K Week 2 day 1, I was favoring my better knee a lot but I was pain free. On Wednesday I did Week 2 Day 2 and really focused on my stride and making sure I was stepping down correctly to prevent injury. It's really been going great, I've been running every day except Thursday when my son has a day off from school. I registered for the 5K and my sister is going to run with me! It's about 2 months away and I'm really hoping I can complete the C25K program before that. If not, I will be okay with that too. I'm learning to listen to my body a little bit better. If my muscles say no, I say yes. If my joints say no, I listen!

Here is my activity log for the week:
Monday - 20 minutes cardio on the elliptical
Tuesday - C25K Week 2 Day 1
Wednesday - C25K Week 2 Day 2
Thursday - Housework (yuck!)
Friday - C25K Week 2 Day 3
Saturday - C25K Week 3 Day 1

What is one health lesson you want to teach your kids?
I would love to teach my kids that the most important reason we eat food is for fuel and that the better we eat the better we feel! My 3 year old is extremely picky but we have been making some progress with him trying new things (ever since we got the ipad to bribe him with!!)
