Once a year, starting mid-August and lasting 3-4 weeks, Stratford’s oldest pizzeria, Salerno’s, offers the Plum Tomato Pizza.
A white pizza piled high with thick-cut, super fresh, plum tomatoes and topped with a swirl of fresh pesto. It is only available when the native Connecticut plum tomatoes are in season. People come from all over to grab a pie, you can hardly get in the door of the pizzeria!
My family looks forward to this every summer and since there is no exact date for when the tomatoes are ready, you have to
stalk check Salerno’s facebook page to see when they are available!
Make sure you get one before they are gone, you won’t be sorry!!
