Mamavation Monday–5K number 3!

I am sitting here trying to recover from a super busy weekend, but after a month long hiatus from running, I am feeling my love for it once again!

So, on Friday my husband and brother-in-law went to a Mets game and my sister and I hung out with the kiddos and ordered sushi and pizza, drank some wine and watched some TV.  It was a fun, relaxing night!

On Saturday morning, I was up early to meet some friends for the Color Me Rad 5K! I was super-excited and a little nervous because friends of my friends that we were running with are really fast. Like, they run close to 20-minute 5Ks! Luckily, they slowed up a bit for the race but I was still really pushing myself to keep up.  There were a few times I had to walk and catch my breath because I wasn’t used to running that fast.  I’m glad I pushed myself though and I’m thinking about starting up interval training again. The group I ran with was a lot of fun so it would be nice to run with them again without dying!

2013-04-27 09.49.373rd 5K of 2013!

Later that night, my mom came over to watch the kids so my husband and I 2013-04-27 22.36.53could go out.  She had bought my husband tickets to see a Beatles cover band for his birthday and they were absolutely amazing. So talented.

I had woken up at 5:45 that morning for the race and we didn’t get home from the concert until 11, so it was a busy day of running, dancing and singing my heart out. Excellent.

Sunday morning came quick! When we woke up we took out a hand-me-down sectional couch we had in the playroom to make way for some new hand-me-down furniture. Then we went to a baptism for a family friend’s new baby and a picnic afterwards, came home, went to pick up the new furniture and moved it into the house.  It is so nice to know that there are no toys, crumbs or dust under any of my couches right now.  I spent the majority of last night with my butt glued to the new couch. I was exhausted! But, I love keeping busy.

I hope everyone has a great week & that this post wasn’t too boring with me blabbering on. Ha!

Graze–Farm Fresh to your Door!

Last week I was lucky enough to get a delivery of farm fresh Vermont food right at my front door.  The company that made this possible, Graze, asked me to share my experience with my readers – and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

I received a great variety of stuff in my bin, there were eggs from Maple Meadow Farms, Milk from Monument farm, Klinger’s Vermont Maple Oat Walnut bread (OMG, so good), Green Mountain cherry yogurt (amazing!), A quinoa salad with dressing on the side, A package of ham cold cuts, A ready-to-cook dinner kit and a heat and serve meal for the kids.

Everything was so delicious and the portion sizes were very generous.  The ready-to-cook dinner was super simple, I didn’t even have to chop any veggies! Plus, I got all the compliments for how yummy it was because technically I cooked it (hehe.)

Graze has been delivering fresh, wholesome, sustainably produced foods here in Fairfield County for two years and is looking to expand into the New Haven/Woodbridge area and has also recently started delivering to Newport, RI.

You can visit the Graze website to see if they are delivering to your area. If not fill out this form and have friends in your area do the same!

They also have a Summer CSA starting on June 17th that you can sign up for.  It’s really a great deal.  You get all organic produce, delivered right to your door with no delivery fee! Plus, since the items come from so many different farms, you don’t get overloaded on anything.  And, you can add bread and/or eggs to your delivery! How awesome is that?

Mamavation Monday

I’m ba-ack! mondaysgraphicwbrown1

I got back from my trip to Las Vegas last Monday and it’s been hard to get out of vacation mode.  My older son was also on April vacation last week so things were just a bit off.

I had every intention to workout every day and keep my house as clean as it was before we left but that just didn’t happen.  We really missed the kids while we were away so there was a lot of snuggling and playing going on!

Things are starting feel back to normal today and I’ve already got a ton of stuff knocked off my to-do list, I am hoping to either fit in a a workout dvd or a trip to the gym later!

Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep-Book Review

I am participating in a book review campaign with One2One Network. I received this book from Harper Collins for the purposes of reviewing it. I have not received compensation. My participation in the campaign enters me into a drawing for a gift card. All opinions stated are my own.

I recently received a copy of Dr. Harvey Karp’s new book - Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep.  It couldn’t have come at a better time, my almost-2-year-old has decided the sleeping is just not cool anymore.

Dr. Harvey Karp is a nationally celebrated pediatrician, child development specialist, and children's environmental health advocate.  His work has made him one of the most read—and most trusted—pediatricians in history.

The book offers up great advice, not only for bedtime, but for the whole day leading up to bedtime.  All the steps are surprisingly simple and can boost the amount of hours your child sleeps and make a “no-cry” bedtime for toddlers.

With Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep, no longer will new parent have to suffer months of sleep deprivation and no longer will babies have to cry themselves to sleep. Backed by compelling science, common sense and decades of experience, Dr. Karp’s landmark guide will revolutionize how millions of children drift off to dreamland.

Mamavation Monday

It’s crunch time!mondaysgraphicwbrown1

Nope, not talking about the ab exercise.  Although, that would probably be a good idea!  Three more sleeps until I leave for vacation with my husband! I’m totally excited and I actually feel pretty confident that I will have everything ready in time.  It might be false confidence, but whatevs.

The house is pretty clean and everything is all set for the kids.  Now, I just have to figure out what clothes I am going to pack… which will probably leave our nice clean bedroom looking like a warzone.

My goals for this week will be to finish cleaning, mail out birthday invitations for my sons birthday, get food ready for the boys, pack, workout everyday, drink lots of water and after Thursday - HAVE FUN!

Oooh, and other exciting news this week – the Mamavation Mom finalists have been announced! Congrats to all the girls who were chosen!

Mamavation Monday–Aaah!

Well, it’s Monday.

Last week was filled with lots of cleaning of icky stuff, mostly laundry from my 4-year-old with a stomach bug and some disinfecting. Since there was a lot of down time I got a whole lot of the house cleaned and now it looks like an Easter tornado has struck us.

It was a pretty exhausting week for the whole family. I got to get out to the gym one time, which was a nice little break and I ran the Mamavation virtual 5K on Saturday, which I wasn’t really feeling up to.   The pants I wore to run in were too big and kept falling down.  I am usually excited about my pants being too big but it was pretty annoying when I was trying to run!

I am leaving for a little vacation with my husband in TEN days and I think I have 1 million things to get done before then. I have to get everything ready for the kids, I want the house to be in order, I have a few blog posts I have to get written and I actually have to get myself ready to go! Then, of course, once we are on our way I will be worrying about everything I didn’t do and missing my kids and worrying about them as well. Seems relaxing, right?
