I finally started training for a 10K this week! I had decided back in June that I wanted to run one and I found one nearby in September. I have been a major slacker lately with running and working out so I started off with RunDouble’s Zero to 10k (distance) plan.
I used their couch to 5k plan a few years ago and absolutely loved it! They also have a 5K to 10K plan, but honestly I haven’t run in so long I don’t think I could run a whole 5K right now! Plus, I didn’t want to overwhelm myself and quit… I know myself well!
This week was 3 runs with 8 repetitions of running 175 yds, followed by 260 yds of walking. It was admittedly pretty easy, but I still felt good about getting out there again! My best time for the 1.84 miles of intervals was 23:00.
I also alternated my running with some Burn to the Beat workouts by, Keaira LeShae on Lionsgate's BeFit Channel.
The series debuted June 24, and takes viewers through four ten-minute workout sessions incorporating key elements from dance, cardio and strength training. New episodes of Burn to the Beat premiere every Tuesday with a second round of new episodes set to debut in the fall.
This workout, Cardio Fitness Party, was my favorite one but they are all great! Keaira is like this little ball of energy and her workouts are quick, fun and effective!
I was also super exhausted this week, so I tried out these Energems to give me a little energy boost before workouts and runs. Energems are bite-sized chocolate gems that are packed with b-vitamins and caffeine. They really did the trick and each one is only 15 calories! My favorite flavor was the mint, but they also come in chocolate and peanut butter – yum!
Overall it was a great week and I’m looking forward to the next one!
