Every year, the City of Danbury, CT presents a good ol' fashioned Memorial Day Parade. This year, the Danbury Police Department and CityCenter Danbury are hosting a 5K that will run the parade route immediately before the start of the parade. The race kicks off on Monday, May 26th at 8:45am on the CityCenter Danbury Green. Imagine the thrill of participating in a race where you run down the home stretch  before a cheering crowd awaiting Danbury's Memorial Day Parade. And you'll be supporting Building Homes for Heroes, an opportunity to help our severely wounded and disabled veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan build homes for their families and rebuild their lives. The 2014 annual Memorial Day 5K is sponsored by Cartus, Matrix Conference and Banquet Center, Liberty Closet and Garage, Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar, and Ingersoll Auto of Danbury.

The 5K covers a flat track up and back through Danbury's historic Main Street, with start and finish at CityCenter Danbury Green. The entry fee is $25 through May16th, $30 up to and including the day of the race. If pre-registered, runners can pick up their packets and T-shirts - guaranteed to the first 500 registered runners - between 8:00am to 8:30am on the Green. Timing is provided by Startline Race Services. No personal chips permitted.
